Iced Earth - Dark Saga
This is Iced Earth's 4th album, and it's quite a departure from their previous releases. Before, Iced Earth was a very cool blend of power and thrash metal, best described as "Iron Maiden + thrash." On this album they take a slower and darker approach, but the song "Violate" is fairly thrashy. Most of the songs on this album are still very heavy, and the vocals are deeper than on previous albums, and appropriately so, since this album is based on the comic book anti-hero, Spawn.
Although some Iced Earth fans have been disappointed with this release, it's still a pretty good album. If you've never listened to Iced Earth, then a better representation of them would be the album "Night of the Stormrider," but this album is still definitely worth getting.

Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden
This is Iced Earth's 7th and so far latest album. It's another concept album, but this time the subject is historic warriors, soldiers, and battles, ranging from Atilla the Hun to the Red Baron. This album, like the past 2 albums, continues a departure from their signature power thrash style, into a slower, more emotional one (well, "The Reckoning" is pretty thrashy).
Unlike Dark Saga, however, which featured Matt Barlow's deep vocals, Tim Owen's vocals are much more akin to the first singer, Tom Greely, with high screaming parts back once again. The guitar may not have that cool galloping rhythm as often, but it's still played very well, as are all the other instruments, and the songs here have a more epic feel to them. Again, if you're just getting into Iced Earth, I'd recommend Night of the Stormrider, since that album is considered an Iced Earth classic, but this album is still very good and there's a lot of variety on here.

Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider
This is Iced Earth's 2nd album, and is considered a classic by many of their fans. This album really represents their signature "Iron Maiden + thrash" sound. Great high pitched screams and fast galloping guitars are really the highlight here, although the other instruments certainly don't disappoint. This is one of Iced Earth's best, and if you're a fan, then you should definitley have this album. If not, then this one is a great start. Their more recent albums are also very good, but this is one of Iced Earth's best.

Iron Fire - Revenge
This is Iron Fire's 3rd release, called Revenge. Like many bands today, it combines speed and power metal, and does so succesfully. The tempos are fast, the vocals are very good, and the guitar and drums are both also really good. The music is actually kind of heavy for a power metal band, but the songs on here all have a different sound to them, some of them being a little slower and heavier, while most have an emphasis on speed. There is also one slower, softer song on this release, but even it doesn't sound as soft as other power metal bands' ballads. For the most part, they don't let up and stay fairly heavy, and they also sound a bit like traditional metal as well.

Judas Priest - Painkiller
Now here's a real classic. Well, opinions are somewhat divided regarding this album, some see it as a metal masterpiece, but there are also those who view it as highly overrated. I'll admit that maybe it's slightly overrated, but regardless you can't deny that this album is a lot of fun. From Rob Halford's dramatic, high pitched screams to the great solos, especially in the opener/title track, this album is pure adrenaline-fuled, over-the-top (and also very catchy) metal. Just from looking at the (ridiculous yet awesome) cover of this album, you know what to expect.
There are some great songs here, my favorites are Painkiller, Hell Patrol, Leather Rebel, Nightcrawler, and Between the Hammer and the Anvil. None of them disappoint however, not even the slower less intense, A Touch of Evil (which by the way, even if you would consider it a ballad, at least it's a ballad about evil and not some sappy love story). Anyway, this is definitely worth a listen especially if you're new to JP or to metal.
